YDG 2 Deperming Barge

MRC was awarded the DND contract to recycle three vessels, including the YDG 2 Deperming Barge, on September 13, 2018. The vessels were subsequently prepared and towed from the Canadian Forces Base in Halifax, NS, to the Marine Recycling Corporation recycling facility in Sydney, NS.

All hazardous materials, salvageable equipment and memorabilia was removed from the YDG 2 Deperming Barge. The ship was dismantled, and the materials recycled.

Work on the YDG 2 Deperming Barge began in March 2017 and was completed December 2017.
